There is an untold war going on deep in the wilderness.
The Ivory War
There are only 433,000 wild elephants left on earth.
Rebel groups and military are using automatic weapons, grenades, helicopters and chainsaws to kill as many as possible. They sell the ivory tusks on the black market and buy weaponary with the profit.
These people are part of a global criminal network which is dependable on corruption,
money laundring and murder.
Politicans and wealthy business men finance the trade and in many
cases work close together with guerilla groups.
Just a few decades ago park rangers only defended the wildlife with spears.
Today the war has forced them to become soldiers. Despite this, they are still in most cases hopelessly out-gunned.
The illegal ivory trade is not only killing the elephants, it is also one of the
main reasons for instability on the african continent.
Save the elephant in order to save the civilian.
